Writing: WALT Entertain

Some of the kids in Kahurangi have been focusing on entertaining in their writing.  They've been creating their own hero and villain short stories.  Take a look at these fantastic examples from Alex, Axis & Nicolas... more to come soon!

Axis is still in the process of publishing his story so this has been quickly uploaded by Ms Matangi.

Celebrating Matariki - The Maori New Year

Ka puta Matariki ka rere Whānui.
Ko te tohu tēnā o te tau e!

Matariki reappears, Whānui starts its flight.
Being the sign of the new year!

Matariki - The Maori New Year, is a special time of the year for celebration, remembrance, culture and spirituality.
This week we have begun our Matariki celebrations with a special storyteller, Whaea Tracy.

Whaea Tracy shared her story of Matariki with our akonga, utilising Maori instruments and traditional Maori resources such as Harakeke (flax) to support her sharing.

We have been very fortunate to have Whaea Tracey share her taonga and knowledge with our akonga.

Here are some photos from her time in the Kahurangi POD...

WALT Describe

In writing, some of us have been working on describing our favourite Book Character.

Here are some examples of our work... Enjoy!
